Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us if you cannot find an answer to your question. Contact

No, we breed Ultra Bernedoodles, which are not part of the standard F1/F2 system. They are in a category all of their own: Ultra. Our puppies carry a higher percentage of Bernese Mountain Dog (typically 75% or more) to give them a more Bernese-like appearance, build, and temperament. They’re perfect for families who want that classic Bernese charm with a touch of Poodle intelligence, low-shed and longevity. Learn More

To reserve a puppy, please fill out the Puppy Application. After your application has been approved, we will request that you submit a $500.00 deposit. Our Tri-Color Ultra Bernedoodles are loved for their striking black, white, and rust markings that beautifully reflect the classic Bernese Mountain Dog look, with the added benefit of the Poodle’s soft, low-shedding coat.

Our Ultra Bernedoodles are $5,000. Each puppy comes from health-tested parents and is raised with hands-on care, early socialization, and plenty of love!

At Dancing Daisies Bernedoodles, we do things with intention, integrity, and a genuine love for our dogs and the families we serve. We keep our program small on purpose so every puppy receives exceptional hands-on care, early socialization, and the kind of attention that helps them grow into confident, well-balanced companions.

We believe in complete transparency and honesty...from health testing and temperament evaluations to waitlists and pricing... so families always know exactly what to expect. Our commitment doesn’t end when your puppy goes home; we offer ongoing support and guidance for the lifetime of your dog.

Unlike many breeders, we encourage you to visit us in person and meet the puppies before making a decision. We believe that meeting the pups and seeing their environment is an essential part of finding the perfect match for your family. We're one of the few breeders who still offer this opportunity, and we want you to feel confident and excited about welcoming your new companion into your home.

With us, it’s not just about raising puppies. It’s about doing it the right way... with care, commitment, and a whole lot of love.

YES! We understand that bringing home the perfect puppy is a big investment and we want to help make it easier for loving families to welcome one of our Ultra Bernedoodles into their homes.

We’re happy to offer monthly payments starting at the time of your deposit, allowing you to spread out the remaining balance until your puppy is ready to go home, typically at 8 weeks of age. We're happy to chat with you to make arrangements. Read More

We believe that choosing a puppy is about more than just looks—it’s about finding the perfect match for your lifestyle, personality, and needs. That’s why we use a personalized puppy matching process to ensure each puppy goes to the ideal home.

Why Personality Matching Matters

  • Every Puppy is Unique – Just like people, puppies have different energy levels, temperaments, and social tendencies. Some are playful and outgoing, while others are more relaxed and independent.
  • Your Lifestyle Matters – Whether you’re an active adventurer, a first-time dog owner, or looking for a therapy companion, we take your lifestyle into account.
  • A Better Bond for Life – By carefully matching personalities, we set both you and your puppy up for a happy, lifelong relationship.

How Our Puppy Matching Process Works

✔ Puppy Temperament Testing (Puppy Aptitude Test) – We observe and evaluate each puppy’s personality, energy level, confidence, and trainability.

✔ Puppy Family Questionnaire – We ask potential owners about their home environment, activity level, experience with dogs, and what they’re looking for in a puppy.

✔ Puppy Visits – When the puppies are 5 weeks old, we will schedule puppy families to come and visit the puppies.

The Result? A Perfect Match!

By taking the time to match puppies with the right families, we create stronger bonds, fewer rehoming situations, and happier lives for both puppies and their owners.

Bernedoodle coat color comes from a mix of genes passed down from both the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle. The black gene is dominant, so without careful pairing, it can easily overpower the rich rust and white markings that make tri-colored Bernedoodles so distinctive. That’s why many breeders end up with mostly black or black-and-white puppies.

At Dancing Daisies Bernedoodles, we use genetic color testing to guide our pairings. We carefully match parents whose genes complement each other, especially the ones that control tan points (the “at” gene) and color expression (the “E” gene). This allows us to consistently produce puppies with clear tri-color markings: deep black, bright white, and rich rust. Read More

All of our Ultra Bernedoodle puppies are furnished!

That means every puppy we raise has the furnishings gene, the one responsible for the soft, fluffy “Doodle look” with adorable facial hair, expressive eyebrows, and a low-to-non-shedding coat.

Unfurnished Bernedoodles (those without the furnishings gene) tend to shed more, have a flatter or sometimes wiry coat, and lack that classic teddy bear appearance.

Because we DNA test all of our parent dogs and past litters, you can be confident that your puppy from will always have a beautiful, furnished coat that’s soft, fluffy, and allergy-friendly. Read More

It’s completely normal for Bernedoodles (and most all doodle breeds) to experience coat fading as they mature. This happens because many doodles carry what’s known as the “fading gene”... a genetic trait inherited from their Poodle lineage.

The fading gene can cause black or dark brown coats to gradually lighten over time, sometimes changing to shades of silver, gray, or light brown as the puppy grows. The change usually begins around 6–12 months of age and may continue through the first couple of years.

This fading doesn’t affect your puppy’s health or coat quality, it’s simply part of what makes doodles so unique! While some coats stay rich and dark, others lighten into beautiful, soft tones that are just as stunning in their own way.

Although we love the tri-color look and purpose to breed for that look... we primarily focus on 3 foundational pillars in our breeding program: health, temperament, and size. These important qualities remain after any color might fade.

The puppies will have a Wellness Exam, receive their first vaccinations, receive regular worming and be microchipped (families receive a lifetime microchip registration). Puppies will NOT be spayed/neutered before leaving DDB for their Forever Home. Puppies must be spayed/neutered no later than their 1st birthdate.

Please note: Spaying or neutering a puppy before six months of age is a debated topic among veterinarians. Doing it too early can lead to potential joint and growth issues especially in large-breed dogs, as hormones play a role in bone development. There can be a higher risk of obesity due to metabolic changes. And it may affect behavior negatively (some evidence suggests early neutering might increase fear-based aggression in some dogs).

For small breeds (<45 lbs fully grown): Can often be safely spayed/neutered around 5-6 months.

For large breeds (>45 lbs fully grown): It may be best to wait until 12 months to allow full joint and bone development.

For this reason we encourage you to wait until close to the puppies 1st birthday to spay or neuter your Bernedoodle puppy.

Both options can be wonderful! The choice really depends on your lifestyle and what you’re looking for in a dog. Rescue dogs often make amazing companions and deserve loving homes, while puppies from a responsible breeder come with a known background, predictable traits, and early socialization that helps them start life with confidence.

We follow the Puppy Culture program, which focuses on early, age-appropriate training to help each puppy develop confidence, resilience, and social skills. From birth to the time they go home, our puppies experience structured exercises that support both their minds and bodies.

No. All puppies are sold as family pets only. All puppies go home on a strict spay/neuter contract and we require proof that your puppy has been spayed/neutered once they reach a year of age.

If you aren't able to pick up your puppy in person, here are some travel options and estimates of cost:

  • Ground Transportation within 6 hours of Denver, Colorado ($50/hr.)
  • Flight Nanny - We offer safe and loving delivery through our trusted flight nanny, who personally accompanies your puppy from Denver International Airport (DIA) to any major airport in the U.S. Your puppy will be cared for and loved every step of the journey... never flying alone. Cost: $300 plus airfare.
  • Airport Meeting - Denver International Airport (DIA) ($150)

NOTE: We will not ship puppies via cargo. Shipping puppies via cargo can be risky and stressful for the puppy. We'd rather take some time to visit with you about finding a safer alternative!

Look for openness and integrity. A good breeder welcomes your questions, shares health results, prioritizes their dogs’ well-being over quantity, and stays in contact with previous puppy families. You should feel peace of mind knowing your puppy came from a clean, loving, happy, family-centered environment.

Thank you for reading more about our puppies! Here's the thing, we don't know, what we don't know! So, here's a few things to help you find the perfect puppy for your family!

Searching for a puppy online can be exciting, but it’s important to be cautious to ensure you’re getting a healthy, well-bred puppy from a reputable breeder. When contacting "breeders" online, asking the right questions is crucial to ensuring you're dealing with a responsible breeder, not a puppy mill. Here are some key questions to ask:

Health & Genetics

1. What health tests have been done on the parents? (Ask for proof of genetic testing, OFA, CERF, EMBARK, etc.)

2. Do you provide health guarantees? (A reputable breeder offers a contract with health guarantees.)

3. Will the puppy come with vaccinations and deworming records?

Breeding Practices

1. Where are the puppies raised? (Puppies should be raised in a home environment, not in cages or kennels.)

2. Can I meet the parents or see pictures/videos of them? (This helps assess temperament and health.)

3. How often do you breed your dogs? (Frequent litters can be a red flag.)

4. What happens if I can’t keep the puppy? (A good breeder will take the puppy back at any time.)

Puppy Socialization & Care

1. How do you socialize the puppies? (Puppies should be exposed to people, sounds, and experiences early.)

2. Have the puppies been around children or other pets?

3. Are the puppies started on potty training?

Contracts & Policies

1. Do you have a contract? (A responsible breeder provides a contract outlining health guarantees, return policy, and spay/neuter agreements.)

2. Do you require an application or screening process? (Good breeders care about where their puppies go.)

3. What is included in the price? (Ask about vet care, microchipping, starter food, etc.)

A great breeder will be happy to answer of your questions and appreciate your diligence!

Red Flags to Watch For

🚫 Breeder avoids questions or provides vague answers.

🚫 Won’t allow you to see where the puppies are raised.

🚫 Pushes for immediate payment without screening you.

🚫 No health testing or vet records available.

🚫 Multiple Breeds & Constant Availability.

Final Tip

Never rush into buying a puppy! Take your time to research, ask questions, and ensure you're supporting responsible breeding practices. A little patience now leads to a lifetime of joy with a happy, healthy pup! Happy puppy shopping!
