How We Incorporate Puppy Culture

At Dancing Daisies Bernedoodles, every puppy is raised with love, intention, and purpose. We proudly follow the Puppy Culture program, a scientifically proven approach to early puppy development that helps shape confident, well-adjusted companions for life.

Puppy Culture is a program designed by professional dog trainers and behaviorists that focuses on a puppy’s critical early developmental stages (0–12 weeks). During this time, experiences leave lasting impressions that shape how a puppy learns, handles stress, and bonds with people and other animals.

Just like children, puppies go through important learning windows. By gently guiding them through age-appropriate experiences, we’re helping them grow into calm, confident, and resilient dogs. Puppy Culture gives each puppy a strong foundation for future training and helps prevent common behavior problems before they start.

From the moment our puppies are born, we begin a series of structured, nurturing experiences designed to support healthy development. Here’s what that looks like in our home:

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)

Starting at 3 days old, each puppy goes through short daily exercises that stimulate their nervous system. This helps strengthen their heart, build tolerance to stress, and boost overall confidence.

Early Scent Introduction (ESI)

We introduce gentle scents to help puppies develop stronger scent recognition and curiosity—an important skill for confidence and learning later in life.

Socialization and Enrichment

Puppies are safely exposed to new sights, sounds, surfaces, and gentle handling. They learn that the world is a safe, happy place. We introduce toys, textures, music, vacuum sounds, and supervised interactions with people of all ages.

Problem Solving and Learning

As they grow, we add small challenges—like tunnels, wobble boards, or puzzle feeders—to help puppies think, explore, and learn. This builds mental flexibility and trust.

Early Potty and Crate Training

When the puppies' eyes open around 3 weeks, and they start to toddle around, potty trays are added to the whelping box. This greatly speeds up potty-training when they go home. We also begin crate exposure before puppies go home. This makes the transition to your home much smoother and less stressful.

Emotional Resilience

Our goal is to raise puppies who can adapt to new situations with confidence. Through positive reinforcement, calm handling, and consistent routines, we help them develop stable temperaments and balanced personalities.
