To maintain the health and quality of our Bernedoodles, we love introducing top-quality bloodlines into our breeding program. To ensure our dogs receive the best possible care and home life, we limit the number of dogs that live with us. As a result, we place some of our breeding dogs in guardian homes, where they can enjoy the love, attention, and happy family life they truly deserve.
The guardian family will welcome the dog as a cherished member of their home, providing love, care, and companionship. This program offers local families the opportunity to own a top-quality dog at a low cost while playing a vital role in our breeding program. Families must be approved as guardians and agree to our contract of care. Once the contract is fulfilled, the dog will be spayed or neutered and remain with the family as their forever pet.
The guardian home program is a wonderful arrangement for everyone involved—it ensures the dog receives dedicated attention in a loving home, gives families the chance to raise an exceptional companion, and allows us to enhance our breeding program by selecting only the best dogs. It’s truly a win-win, where the family gains a top-quality pet, the breed is improved, and most importantly, the dog enjoys a lifetime of love and care in a permanent home.
To qualify as a guardian home, families must:
✔ Have a stable home environment with a securely fenced yard.
✔ Provide proper training, socialization, and veterinary care.
✔ Notify the breeder of any health concerns.
✔ Live within a reasonable distance from the breeder for breeding-related visits.
✔ Follow the breeder’s guidelines on diet, exercise, and health care.
✔ Must NOT allow the dog to mate with any unapproved dogs or be around other dogs when they are in heat.
✔ The dog must be kept as an indoor dog.
✔ All dogs in the home of the opposite gender MUST be neutered/spayed.
✔ Be willing to work with the breeder’s schedule for breeding and litters.
Q: How long does the guardian program last?
A: It lasts until the dog has had a set number of litters (for females) or a certain age is reached (for males).
Q: Who pays for veterinary expenses?
A: General care (vaccinations, check-ups, etc.) is the guardian home’s responsibility, while breeding-related costs are usually covered by the breeder.
Q: Can we travel with the dog?
A: Yes, but the breeder may require notification for extended trips.
